200!

January 5, 2008 by tamarasheehan

To celebrate my 200th post (yes, I talk a lot, but that’s partly conditioning. We get paid by word in short fiction) I’m posting a veritable smorgasbord of links.

For those of you who require writerly validation and have not yet seen this, the Official Writer Certificate (I have one in a stack of paper somewhere and am in search of a good, gold frame for it), it’s about time you did.

For a glimpse of the wild and weird 1949 predictions for the year 2000 (Amazonian women will think nothing of fixing the family car, for example), click here.

If you think your life is lacking SF, perhaps the Gawker’s new io9 can help you out.

Not to be missed, Jay Lake wants to know what you think of his meat.

The LOLCAT version of The Wasteland is the funniest parody of TS Elliot’s poem that I’ve ever seen. In fact, it might be the only parody of TS Elliot’s poem that I’ve ever seen. But that doesn’t mean it’s not hysterical.

And for those thinking of starting, writing, inking, finishing or generally doing a graphic novel, some words of comfort from Endicott Studios.

  • Tamara Sheehan

Tamara Sheehan is the Aurora Award nominated author of The Tenth Man, a fantasy novel about terrorism and revenge set in the modern world. Her newest book, The Mediocre Assassin's Handbook is out from Prizm Young Adult, and her next book Stormy Bamboo and Other Tales is in the works. Both are both set in an alternative 19th century Asian world. Tam has written over dozen short stories and reads slush weekly for Bewildering Stories. She likes feedback (no, really) so if you want to get in touch you can join her email list at tamarasheehan is @ hotmail dot com (and suffer spam once a month) or introduce yourself when you see her at a convention. If you want to pick up a copy of one of her books, check out the Shop.

  • What I’m Reading Now

I just set out an ambitious program of reading designed to help me prepare for the next book I'm writing. It's sitting in a slightly scary pile over by the table. Mean time, I've got Shake Hands with the Devil on loan from my friend Devon, The Essential Haiku sitting on the coffee table, a new Locus Magazine and A Woman's Guide to Peak Performance, which is what I picked up after I threw Training For Black Belt across the room.
