Well I’m winding down Tales of the Otori and Little Brother and soon I shall be out of reading material. Rather than do what comes naturally to me (commence panic and then run down to Munroes and buy everything I see), thought I’d try a less expensive approach. What book would you recommend?

Dealing at the local

Spent my whole day off sitting in cafes writing. This is fabulous for many reasons (I walk to get to the cafe and thus feel I’ve been outside a little, get to listen to good music which I do not own, have lots of coffee, etc) but today my neighbourhood local really broke the [...]

OK, so, I just heard from my (very fine) publishers and here’s the goods:
Tenth Man is scheduled to come out for December 1st, which is fantastic as far as I’m concerned because it’s going to make Christmas shopping a whole lot easier for me (Hey look! I got you a book!) and means I [...]

It’s been far too long since I posted a piece of free fiction, so allow me to apologize and offer up something light and summery, maybe to read at the lake…

Well, we’re off to see the Yoshida Brothers tonight.
This, my lovelies, is a triumph of file sharing. Yes, it’s true. I got my first Yoshida Bro’s song from a friend and have since purchased tickets to their concert and talked them up, I’ve played their music at work where without fail someone always asks, [...]

Yesterday I got an email from a publisher I’ve subbed. They emailed to let me know they couldn’t open my submission package because I didn’t follow the sumission guidelines and the package was in a format unsupported by their… whatever it is… OS or mail brower or whatever. They were kind enough to [...]
I love how English provides. I wanted a way to describe how I’m training so much that I sometimes feel lonely and miss my husband when I’m standing at the bus stop. Then I found the term “karate widow”. OMG. How perfect.
