I just found another suspicious little bump in my breast. Like last time, it’s probably nothing, but it might be something, so I’m on the way to the doctor as soon as I can get in to see her. Ladies, when was the last time you did a self breast exam?

On Cleaning and Cleaners
Posted in Homemakery on August 31, 2009 | 2 Comments »
I know that those of you who tune into this blog don’t tune in for the homemaking stuff. Just like people who fly don’t fly to get the peanuts. But they do get them (the peanuts, I mean) and so you’re about to get a homemaking tale.
I ran out of my usual bathroom cleaner, oh, [...]

OK, I’m back. Phew. That week was too much.
I’ve started writing again, which is good. In fact, I wrote the opening few paragraphs of the book I’ve been trying to write for two or three years and went, woah, which I figure is a good thing. Who am I kidding? It’s great. I haven’t [...]

OK you guys, I’m sorry I’ve been away. I’ve been, honestly, way too busy to blog.
This weekend was the Western Canada Barista Championships, and that meant a 10 hr day yesterday and something like six hrs today. I’ve been eating bad food at strange hours and shouting to be heard for most of my day. [...]

The judges for the barista competition arrived today for palette calibration and the competitors have started arriving. I spent most of the day packing a box with all the stuff I’ll need for the booth I’m staffing at the trade show and feeling, well, great.
Sometime last night or early this morning whatever has been out [...]

Have nothing to say tonight, I’m afraid. I worked (kind of), rode Jane the Bike, sat and read among the burlapped plant on the balcony, then celebrated a friend’s birthday, adult style (one beer, home by seven).
In a dead space with writing – lots of will and lots of ideas but the desire and [...]

Womanking, the world’s most super-awesome retailer of clothing for and by transpeople now has a website up. The website is ultra new, and the shop (hosted by Etsy) doesn’t appear to have any gear up yet, so hold onto your credit cards for two shakes. Don’t worry, you’ll be able to get the toaster over [...]

Spent much of yesterday evening reading awesome DIY apartment decorating blogs, which is probably why, at 9 o ‘clock last night I thought it would be a great idea to try to dye some old tea towels green with tea. They looked horrible when I took them out of the tea bath, and even worse [...]

Sleepless night last night. Got to work to find computer problems for an OS I’m not really familiar with. Got that sorted out by consensus (phew) and commenced the days emailing (sent and 8, received 15, just FYI). I actually went into work late because when I did get to sleep I wanted to make [...]
Review of Handbook

Sweet Vernal Zephyr has a few things to say about Handbook.
My editor Kara and I struggled with the juxtaposition of the traditional Japanese and anachronisms in the book. It looks like, for this reviewer at least, we hit the right balance. Phew.
