Author Bio

Tamara Sheehan is a fantasy and science fiction author currently living in Victoria, British Columbia. Raised on an acreage just outside Cranbrook BC, she spent most of her time running around barefoot and making up stories. For as long as she has been able to read, apart from a stint in grade two when she wanted to be a painter, Tamara has always wanted to be a writer. She refuses to accept responsibility for this and blames those who read to her as a child.

Tamara has published more than twenty short stories in the last five years. Her first novel, The Tenth Man, was published electronically by Bewildering Stories and then by Prizm books in December 2008. Her next novels,The Mediocre Assassin’s Handbook and Stormy Bamboo and Other Tales are both set in an alternative 19th century Asian world and both forthcoming in 2009. What can we say? The girl likes to write.

When she’s not writing, Tam and reads slush weekly for Bewildering Stories. She like feedback (no, really) so if you want to get in touch you can join her email list at tamarasheehan is @ hotmail dot com (and suffer spam once a month) or introduce yourself when you see her at a convention. If you want to pick up a copy of one of her books, check out the Shop.

I am so glad that you are going to publish your book. I am sure it is an amazing experience for you.
On my blog I just posted about the literary community the Red Room | Where the writers are, and you should check it out since you are a writer and fellow Canadian.
    Kindest,
    Michael

Had a look at it and I’ll pass, but thanks for the suggestion. Social networking just eats my time. I even defacebooked myself (has anyone ever done such a thing?).

  • What I’m Reading Now

Well, I was reading Joe Abercrombie's book The Blade Itself, but then I started writing this new book, and started doing the reading for it, so now I'm reading Monkey Beach by Eden Robinson, which is the kind of book I'm scared to pick up again because last time I picked it up, I read the whole day and got nothing else done.

I've also got a few books pending including but not limited to 99 Coffins and 13 Bullets by David Wellington (on loan from my friend Brain), a Rohinton Mistry book I haven't yet cracked open, and a fantasy trilogy from a friend.

I don't mean to amass such quantities of borrowed books, but the trouble is, people keep saying, "Ooh, I just read this amazing book, want to borrow it?" and, really, how can I say no?
